These two men (see letterhead) were at the top of their fields and threw varying degrees of shade to Jane; Moses in particular was almost hysterical about her writings and advocacy.
In a letter to Jane’s publisher in 1961, Moses wrote: “I am returning the book you sent me. Aside from the fact that it is intemperate and inaccurate, it is also libelous. I call your attention for example, to page 131. Sell this junk to someone else.”
Jane’s book, of course, is known today as “the Bible of city planning.” But to Moses, she was a nobody — just some housewife stirring up trouble.
