About this blog post: Each month, I send an email newsletter to friends on my list. Below is a condensed version of last month's letter.
If you're in my boat—pursuing creative work in the hours here and there—you know that it's common and normal and A-OK to experience phases of intense productivity alongside seasons of slothy-slowishness (my new made-up word). The trick is being cool with it all, and heck, even better, embracing it all. In that spirit, here's where we're planning on hanging every summer Sunday morning, if we can help it. And, here are some things I'm reading, thinking about, and working on this month:
What I'm Reading
In Other Words by Jhumpa Lahiri (a birthday gift from my Dad), Teaching Hard Ideas with Children's Books, Einstein's God by Krista Tippett, Six-Figure Freelancing, the Writer's Guide to Making More Money by Kelly James-Enger
What We're Reading
Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen, Library Day by Anne Rockwell, Montessori Letter Work, Hello Ocean by Pam Munoz Ryan, Abuela by Arthur Dorros
What I Wrote
Crafting in the Archives with Vintage Postcards on Dear Handmade Life,Rockwood, A Hudson Valley Secret
What I Heard + Saw
The New Yorker Radio Hour with Lena Dunham, Veep on HBO, My Neighbor Totoro, Winnie Cooper to Math Whiz via Kottke, Game of Thrones' Battle of the Bastards, #nobillnobreak
