Whoa, what a year! (Actually, make that two.) TWO WHOLE years ago in the before-times I embarked on a path of writing a young adult biography on the life of Jane Jacobs — the visionary urbanist, thinker, and activist who penned THE DEATH AND LIFE OF GREAT AMERICAN CITIES.
Between pandemic deadline extensions and understandable delays at my small but mighty indie publishing house and —we’re now looking at the Fall of 2023 for a publication date. (Another whole year, I know!) While I practice my patience, I am learning all about the behind-the-scenes details of the publishing world, including the necessity for building-in lead time for copy edits, layouts and circulating galleys out for review. It will all be worth the wait. And it’s going to evergreen & timeless like Jane herself.
On the bright side, this gives me more time to make Jane’s ideas useful to you — a young reader (OR, perhaps more likely: a social studies, civics, or history teacher, librarian, or bookseller). Please drop me a line and let me know why you’re here or how you found us. I’d love to hear!
